Barcelona midfielder finally set for overdue transfer in January

Barcelona nearing a deal that will see Carles Aleña leave on loan.

Barcelona are close to finalizing a deal with Real Betis which will send the midfielder to Betis during the winter transfer window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the two sides are finalizing the final details and that barring any obstacles, an agreement is almost in place.

Any potential hold up will be with what happens to him once the loan is completed. Betis want an option to buy at the end of the loan. Should that be the case, Barcelona would want to include a buy-back option as well.
Despite being one of the standout players in Barcelona’s Champions League victory against Inter Milan, the club seem to be of the mindset that Aleña will benefit from regular first team minutes at another club.

Before the season started, sending Aleña out on loan was on the table. Betis was among those options but Ernesto Valverde decided to keep the player. He even started in their first game against Athletic Bilbao.

However, he was pulled off at halftime and had been all but exiled until he finally got some minutes a few games.
