Unfortunate! Business Bus Plunges Into River, Killing 12 Passengers (Photo)



An unfortunate occurrence happened on Oyo/Ogbomoso Road after a business transport dove into the Odo-Oba River attempting to maintain a strategic distance from a head on impact with another vehicle that lost control and veered off its path.

An observer, addressing PUNCH, stated:

"From the report I had, the transport was setting out to Ilorin and as it moved toward the slant prompting to the little extension over the waterway, an explained truck assumed control over the way of the street and with an end goal to maintain a strategic distance from crash with it, the transport driver veered off the street and dove into the stream."

"It was troublesome hauling the travelers out of the stream regardless of the volunteer rescuers that landed at the scene early. Twelve individuals kicked the bucket quickly," the observer said.

As per the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, "The driver of the Mazda transport lost control of the vehicle and dove into the Odo-Oba River."

"Nine grown-ups and three children passed on the spot and their bodies have been kept at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso. There were three survivors. The police, with help from nearby drivers, hauled the bodies and travelers out of the waterway. The vehicle is still in the waterway," Ajisebutu said.

He included that the bodies perished have been taken to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

The Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Yusuf Salami who additionally affirmed the mischance, stated:
