Neymar aware of Chelsea interest but Manchester United promise to meet his salary demands

Neymar is aware of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United and is anticipating an offer from Jose Mourinho’s side this summer, according to reports.

The Daily Record claims the Barcelona forward ‘believes’ United are willing to trigger his €200 million (£169m) release clause, having already been promised by the Premier League club that they will match his wage demands.

United’s current top earner, Paul Pogba, was given a £290,000-a-week deal when he signed for United last summer.

It’s also claimed that Chelsea and United have both asked if Neymar would force a move away from Camp Nou at the end of the season.

The Brazil international only signed a contract renewal last October and is now earning just over €300,000 (£260,000) a week.

But the report suggests that Neymar is open to leaving Barcelona this summer in order to join a team that is centered around him, as opposed to his current situation with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Camp Nou.

Mourinho, who has admitted his transfer plans have changed following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s cruciate ligament injury, is reportedly ‘persistent’ with his attempts to lure Neymar from Barcelona
