A 24-year-old New York, US woman is embracing her bearded look despite nasty comments from internet trolls.

Alma Torres suffers from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition she was diagnosed with at the age of 16.

PCOS causes a woman to have facial hair and other symptoms, such as irregular periods and infertility.

In a recent interview, Alma said she tried to hide her facial hair for years with the help of her boyfriend, 22-year-old Taylor.

She said the two regularly used razors, shavers and tweezers to stave off her facial hair growth.

However, Alma said she is now ready to face the world with her bearded look—and she has the full support of Taylor. The two have been together for five years.
Coming out means she is ready to face down internet trolls who have cruelly made fun of the fact that she has facial air, with some even calling her "ugly."

However, Alma said she hopes to inspire other women with similar conditions to be comfortable in their looks.

She said: "Having the beard has made me such a better person. I feel more confident and I want to encourage other women with PCOS to feel the same."

Taylor said he supports Alma: “She’s still beautiful to me and her beard doesn’t define her. It’s just hair and it doesn’t have anything to do with how a person feels."
