Previous French Open Winner, Ivanovic resigns at 29




Previous world number one and 2008 French Open champion Ana Ivanovic has resigned from tennis at 29 years old.

The Serb has been out with damage since August and dropped to 63 on the planet rankings, having won only 15 coordinates in 2016 – the latest in June.

"I can just play in the event that it is up to my own elevated expectations. I can no longer do that so the time has come to proceed onward," she said.

Ivanovic burned through 12 weeks as world number one in 2008 and won 15 vocation singles titles.

She achieved the French Open semi-last in 2015 and was runner-up at Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2007 and at the 2008 Australian Open.

"It has been a troublesome choice however I have such a great amount to observe," Ivanovic included.

"I started envisioning about playing tennis when I was five and saw Monica Seles playing on TV.

"I have seen statures I never longed for accomplishing."

Ivanovic, who wedded Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger not long ago, said she will investigate openings in business, excellence and form in retirement and said it will permit her more opportunity for her work with Unicef, with whom she holds the position of National Ambassador for Serbia.
